About Us

Club Chair 2012/13 – Gill Sloan

Lomond Kayak Club is a club based at the Meadows Centre in Dumbarton, West Dunbartobshire.  Loch Lomond is our “home” patch.   We are a friendly group and we always welcome new members.

We have a wide range of experience within the club from complete beginners taking their first steps into the exciting world of paddlesports to very experienced paddlers who like nothing better than testing their skill in the variety of challenging waters that Scotland has to offer.

Within the Club we have a number of UKCC Level 1 & 2 coaches allowing us to train and assess paddlers up to BCU 2* (generic) level.  We also train to 3* for Open Canoe, Touring and White Water and use external assessors for assessment.  For those that are already at or above this level the club offers a chance to meet other paddlers of a similar skill and experience level which will hopefully give you the opportunity to get out and achieve your own paddling goals.

We paddle a paddle all year round but also during the winter season (September – April) we run pool sessions at the Meadows Centre in Dumbarton on a Sunday evening at the times below:

  • Session 1 :1730-1815 – Improvers
  • Session 2: 1815-1900 – Beginners

There is a limit of 15 paddlers per session. For Session 1 those who help carry Kayaks to the pool take will take priority. Other sessions – first come first served. It should be noted that these are on the water times and participants should aim to arrive early to get changed and warm up.

Outdoor trips run all year round (weather permitting); see the  Outdoor Trips page
